Today, it seems to be a foreign concept to take responsibility for your actions. The tendency is to either make excuses, or outright blame someone else for your screw ups. After all, how could it be your fault?
You have the wrong boss, my teammates are lazy, you’re the wrong sex, wrong skin color, your parents messed you up, it’s the Presidents fault, you don’t have any money, they stole your idea, you don’t have time and the list goes on.
I was once told- you can either create excuse or you can make money, it’s your choice. I thought that was pretty wise advice. Another mentor once told me, “Excuses are like armpits, everyone has a couple and they both stink”.
The point being, at some point you need to stand up and take 100% responsibility for yourself. It’s all up to you. Do you start from the same point as others? No. Is this thing we call life fair? No. But that has no bearing on what you can decide to do to pursue your passion and make a difference in your part of the world.
Own it. You were built for greatness, so get to it.
